A few days beforeĀ  Hurricane Ida passed through Louisiana, a local resident named Harrison Sibley decided to take his family to Sevier County in Tennessee and stay at a friend’s house until the storm went away. They took their ten-year-old dog along with them. Their pooch is a three-legged German Shepherd mix named Bear.

During their stay, the senior dog owner would frequently go hiking in the woods nearby. During one of his walking trips, his friends let Bear out of the house. A few minutes later, the dog was gone. Harrison and his family looked for their beloved pet everywhere, but they couldn’t find him.

After a few days, they had to go back to Louisiana.

Relentless

For the next three months, the distraught pet owner returned to Tennessee four times to look for Bear. Each trip was a failure. His dog was nowhere to be found.

To get help from the community, Harrison’s wife started a Facebook group dedicated to locating Bear. As more and more people from Sevier County started joining the group, reports of sightings of the lost pooch started to grow.

Home security cameras have recorded the three-legged dog passing by houses. Then six months after he ran away, Bear was reunited with his owners.

Kind man

Bear’s return to his owners was due to the huge help of a professional drone operator named Jimi Holscher. He learned about the dog’s disappearance from his mother and knowing the lost canine had only three legs touched him.

The kind man got in touch with Harrison a devised a plan to get Bear back. The dog owner traveled once again to Sevier County and together with Jimi, they started looking for the dog. Using a drone, the two searched for the German Shepherd from the sky. They went to the area where the dog had numerous sightings.

After several days, they were able to find Bear.

Harrison is finally home and his family is delighted to have him back.
