If you ask every dog owner in the world, most of them, if not all, would describe their dogs as their children. And since they are seen as such, their disappearance is one of the most terrifying experiences a pet parent could possibly face.

Dog owners are strongly encouraged to microchip their dogs if the service is available in their area. Microchipping is not a panacea for lost dogs, but it certainly helps a great deal.

Because of her microchip, a dog from England was recently reunited with her owners. The reunion took place after eight long years, but it surely is better late than never.

As a puppy, the chocolate Cocker Spaniel Cassie was taken from her owners’ backyard by some thieves. Her owners, Stuart and Jane Wiley, already had their dog microchipped. This gave them peace of mind that in case their pet got lost, there was still a huge chance that they could find her once again.

After eight years, they received a fortunate break. 33 miles away from their home in Sussex, a veterinarian clinic in Chichester, England, called the Wileys. They were informed that the microchip on a chocolate Cocker Spaniel contained the Wileys’ contact information. It was Cassandra!

However, someone claiming to be Cassie’s owner brought her to the veterinarian. Therefore, the veterinary nurse contacted pet detective Colin Butcher to assist them in returning Cassie to the Wiley family. Colin and his crew simply verified the list of suspected unlawful breeders in Chichester, and were able to collect Cassie shortly thereafter!

They returned Cassie to the Wileys in Sussex, who were overjoyed to be reunited with their beloved pet. In addition, Cassie’s three puppies were also welcomed into the family’s home. Jane Wiley never expected to see her dog after eight years. She even believed herself to be dead!
