Late last year, Hope For Paws received an urgent call from Valarie Court. She was in California for a short visit when she spotted an injured dog abandoned outside a cemetery. She knew the rescuers are nearby, so she quickly picked up her phone and called them.

As soon as Eldad Hagar received the notification, he hopped into his car and drove to the said location. But while he acted quickly, it took him 1 ½ hours to arrive at the scene. By the time he did, Valarie already secured the dog.

Valarie is a big fan of the rescue organization, and she’s watched several videos of their work, so she knew how things are done. While waiting, she pulled off some stickers off the dog’s fur. She also calmed her down, making sure she’s comfortable enough to let the rescuer take her.

Almost immediately, the dog felt at ease with Eldad. He tried to scan her for a microchip, but she wanted some belly rubs first. After realizing the dog didn’t have a microchip, Eldad gave her pieces of the hotdog sandwich he bought. He then loaded her into the car and went on their way back to Los Angeles.

Realizing how beautiful the dog’s blue eyes were, Eldad decided to call her Sapphire. At the rescue center, the vets examined her so they could identify the extent of her injuries. An X-ray exam revealed Sapphire had broken bones, but Eldad knew Dr. Antonio Pedraza, Hope For Paws’ dedicated vet, will be able to fix it like it never happened.

Sapphire underwent extensive surgeries. And as expected, she recovered completely with no issues. A couple of weeks later, the dog proceeded to Foxy and the Hounds, where she waited for her forever family to come. And before long, the perfect family came to pick her up.

Eldad visited Sapphire in her new home after a while. He is so glad to see her healthy and happy. He promised he’d find her a loving home, and with the help of Foxy and the Hounds, she’s now with the family she always deserved.
