It was the brink of the night when the shelter got an urgent call about a dog by the gutter. At first sight, he looked utterly still. They knew they needed to help the weak Pitbull.

Call for help

Chris Schindler was part of the team that went to see the Pittie. He couldn’t believe he got there right on time and immediately brought the pup to the emergency hospital.

The dog weighed about fifteen pounds when he should be another twenty to thirty pounds over that. After three days, they released him to an experienced foster name Kim O’Keefe.

Journey to recovery

For the first twenty-four hours, the dog was still fragile. He was a sad-looking puppy.

After a few days, the canine started to wag his tail, and his ears looked perkier. He was also able to walk a little bit.

By the second week, the dog was building up more energy and wanted to play. Soon, the couple was able to take him on walks down the street.

The Pittie was able to keep up with Kim’s older dog energy. The foster realized that she no longer had a sick puppy.

The puppy was very active. His coat was looking better, and his fur was coming in. He was a perfect example of a puppy that wanted to live.

Kim would praise the physical change that the dog underwent. She also noticed the emotional change that occurred.

New family

By the sixth week, Kim approached her friend Megan about adopting the Pittie. Megan was up for it and soon brought the dog home, which she named Tig.

Tig had Megan completely hooked. The dog would always be on the couch and fitted in so well.

Megan had two other dogs that Tig would play with all the time. She loved seeing his transformation.

Megan believes that his ability to love despite what happened to him is the best thing about him. His story continues to inspire everyone.
