Sometimes, the simplest acts impact our lives more than we’ve ever imagined, and that’s what happened to this young dog named Hobart.
Hobart is a tiny brown puppy who was once abandoned on the streets of Los Angeles. One day, Hobart decided to follow a guy in uniform, and this simple act would change his life forever.
The puppy probably thought that he was merely making friends and would probably get a good meal and a friendly body rub. He got more than that.
Officer Mercado of the LAPD was the guy Hobart followed, and this resulted in the police officer turning him into a local shelter called Ghetto Rescue Ffoundation.
There, Hobart grew and enjoyed his animal shelter family. It’s not an ideal place for a young dog, but it’s better than being on the streets.
Officer Mercado couldn’t stop thinking about the puppy he met and the bond that quickly formed between them. The little rascal was sweet, and he felt like he let the little guy down when he brought him to the animal shelter.
When you’re a cop and you’re on patrol, you don’t expect a little puppy to follow you, nor do you expect the encounter to be captured and then go viral on social media.
When the animal shelter posted an update about Hobart and Officer Mercado saw that no one adopted him yet, he made a huge decision. He decided to be Hobart’s dad.
Now, Hobart lives with his police officer owner and his family. He’s a happy dog who loves to play and cuddle. Officer Mercado is sure he made the right decision in giving Hobart a home.
