Finding a forever home was the best Christmas gift ever received by Capone, a senior black Labrador retriever. An animal shelter in Pittsburgh named Animal Friends took him in three years ago where he learned that good things definitely happen to those who wait.

Capone has been in the shelter for 1,134 days waiting for his foster parents. The staff showers him with love for being such a clever and well-mannered boy. But, he deserves to spend the years to come in a forever family.

A couple of interested people came to adopt him but for some reason, the adoption doesn’t push through. Capone must be the only pet in a home with a fenced yard.

Sadly, black and senior dogs are overlooked at shelter homes. Animal Friends posted Capone’s adorable photos on Facebook to encourage potential adopters, and they did!

A family took Capone to get him out of the stressful environment at the shelter and, they quickly fell in love with him. Though his hearing and sight start to deteriorate, he’s still doing fine with his powerful sense of smell. He is a 10-year-old pup who loves walks and enrichment games.

The family has decided to officially adopt Capone. The shelter was so happy and announced the great news. Indeed,  good things do come to those who wait like Capone who has finally found his new family. Capone was their longest-term resident for being at the shelter since November 2017.

Capone has hundreds of followers who are also ecstatic after knowing that he is getting adopted. One of them expressed his happiness by wishing him all the things he deserves.  He hoped for the good boy to get to cuddle in a comfortable bed and get special treats.

Since Capone has won the hearts of many, the shelter posted a video of their happy memories shared with Capone for the past three years.

The shelter volunteers and staff were overjoyed and congratulated Capone for having found a forever family and a home for the holidays.
