Kong suffered profound neglect at a very young age. Soon enough, he found himself languishing inside a local shelter in Claremore, OK. He had a severe sunburn and an excruciating skin disease that caused him to flinch whenever someone touched him.

Fortunately, some Good Samaritans learned about the poor dog. They reached out to several groups and Border Collie Rescue & Rehab took him in. They nursed him back to health, and once he was ready for adoption, he became rescue #387.

Curtis Hartsell, however, didn’t mind whether he was Kong or #387. He didn’t require a name to fall in love with the dog that has a huge smile and inquisitive eyes. He read his profile and looked at his picture and instantly, he knew he must have him.

At first, Curtis worried that his active lifestyle might hinder him from keeping a dog. He works a lot and may have not enough time to care for a pet. But something told him things would work out just fine, so he filled in an application and offered the dog a home.

After a home visit, the rescue group found Curtis as the best fit for dog #387. So the moment he got the good news, he hopped into his car and drove to the dog’s foster home. From Kong to #387, Curtis decided to call his new dog Zib.

Zib couldn’t ask for anything else now that he’s with his new dad. All he wanted in his past life was to have someone who would love and care for him. He waited a short while, but he’s finally got what he deserved.

He wanted to be pet but Zib was in so much pain that he couldn’t stand someone touching him in the past. But today, he actually spends most of his time snuggling with his dad, and he can’t get enough of it.
