Sometimes, you will never determine the time when a dog will come into your life. Who knows, you may stumble upon an adorable pup while you’re at work!

This is what happened to a police officer in New Jersey named Matthew O’Hanlon. Check out his fateful encounter with a very adorable puppy.

Finding the wounded pup

Matthew, who is working for the Mount Laurel Police Department, stumbles upon a pup roaming an industrial area. The pup, which is later found out to be a pit bill, has a wound on his head.

Matthew decides to scoop up the puppy and take him to a local rescue center for treatment. He tells a local news outlet that usually, they find dogs that have tags or microchips on them. Then, the team takes them to an animal hospital and finds the owner pretty fast.

This time around, it’s different. The puppy does not have any form of identification. However, Matthew has already had plans in his mind.

Matthew decides to take the pup home

No family came to the rescue center to claim the wounded pit bull. So, Matthew decides to take home the dog right away. He calls the shelter 20 minutes after he drops the dog and tells them that he wants the pup.

The policeman further explains that he and his fiancée are already looking for a pit bull puppy, so it appears that he and the pup have been destined to meet. When Matthew gets reunited with the pit bull, he decides to name him Thor — obviously inspired by a Marvel superhero. He adds that he and his fiancée are big Marvel fans.

Matthew says that helping a little puppy can make someone feel good. He also hopes that his story with Thor will change people’s minds about pit bulls, which are often associated with aggression.
