The dog meat festival in China is something that people from around the globe are attempting to stop. Sadly, this meat market exists not only in the Asian country of China, but also in other nations. Similar to what is happening in South Korea, the Chinese dog meat festival produces approximately four million pounds of dog meat annually for human use.

Recently, the Lehigh County Humane Society joined with the Humane Society of the United States to rescue some pups who were going to be sold in Korea’s dog meat market. Due to their effective cooperation, they were able to save 150 dogs in total.

After flying them to the United States, the Lehigh Valley Humane Society cared for two of them until they are ready for adoption. Bada, a two-year-old Shepherd mix, is one of them, while Tan, a very frightened and anxious dog, is the other.

Dog trainer Lucas Holland exerted great effort to assist these animals recover from their horrific experiences in South Korea. It may take some time for these canines to be ready for adoption, but once they are, their forever homes will realize that the wait was well worth it.

The Lehigh County Humane Society ensured that they felt welcomed and reassured that they were there to help, not harm, them. They are still getting used to having several affectionate pets and belly massages, but they are beginning to like it.

Once Bada and Tan are adopted, the Humane Society will have more space to take in additional rescue dogs and find them permanent homes. Additionally, rescue dogs from Oklahoma and Texas were transported to Lehigh Valley, so there will be a large number of dogs awaiting adoption.

When you know how to love a dog, you realize how crucial it is to assist these unfortunate dogs find a home. Due to their difficult background, they deserve another opportunity at life and to experience what it’s like to live with the right humans.
