Dogs are easily drawn to people, but a lot of them may take a liking to mailmen and delivery guys. Proof of this is a charming group on Facebook where UPS and delivery personnel can share pictures of them interacting with kind dogs while they are on the job.
In Sao Paulo, Brazil, a mailman named Cristiano da Silva Antunes, has made it a point to take selfies with animals, especially dogs, that he meets along the way. He even has his own Instagram page called Carteiro Amigo Dos Animals, which means animal-friendly postmen.
A mission to help animals
Cristiano is not on Instagram just to showboat. In fact, he has a mission. Often, he rescues dogs and other animals that require immediate medical attention from veterinarians. He also helps animals find help from appropriate shelters. Cristiano also dreams of starting his own shelter, so he could help his animal friends more.
The process of making friends with a dog, especially for mailmen like Cristiano, can be quite challenging. First, the mailman greets and acknowledges the pup. He will then let the dog sniff his hand from a distance. Eventually, he approaches them until the dog is close enough to give him wet and sloppy licks and kisses.
A certified-animal lover!
Just like what you would think of an animal-friendly person, Cristiano actually has animals in his care. He owns dogs and three cats; his spouse is also helping him take care of them.
Cristiano explains that he has always been around dogs since his childhood. And this may explain why he easily befriends pups.
The amazing and animal-friendly postman has more than 100K followers on Instagram as of this writing. He keeps on brightening up his followers’ day with his pictures featuring the dogs and other animals he befriends along the way.
