Back in October, Cassandra from Butte, Montana, lost her dog named Zeus. The pup was stolen and was later on found in West Virginia, which was 2,000 miles away from his home. However, bringing him back to his family was not an easy task. Thankfully, a group of strangers worked together to return Zeus to his owner.

Zeus is a gigantic dog who weighs 73 pounds, a size that is too big for a commercial flight. Because of that, the pup had to be driven 29 hours for him to return home. Zeus could not make this journey on his own. So, he had to employ the help of 30 strangers from the Paws Volunteer Transport group.

The volunteers all pitched in to help Zeus get back home. He traveled for a total of four days and three nights. The people from Kanawha Charleston Humane Association also helped by updating everyone on their progress.

One of the volunteers, Jenn Robles, said that she was happy that she could help the pup and see that Zeus and his owner had their happy ending. She further noted that this was a great experience. It was an excellent opportunity to show how the Americans would jump in and help reunite a dog with his family.

Kanawha Charleston Humane Association representative, Chelsea Staley, explained how Zeus ended up thousands of miles from his home. She said that the owner’s friend took the pup. Cassandra, a single mom, let a family friend stay in her home for a few days.

Unfortunately, this friend robbed the pet mom, taking her wallet, Zeus, and many other things, while Cassandra was at work. Thankfully, he was apprehended in Nitro while he was still with Zeus.

The Kanawha Charleston Humane Association announced Zeus’ safe return. They noted that they’re honored to be part of the pup’s journey. They’re also grateful for all the volunteers who were the reason why this reunion happened.
